Simple Ways Uninstalling Application on MAC

Simple Ways Uninstalling Application on MAC-Unlike in Windows Operating System, uninstalling applications on MAC operating system can be a little bit tricky. Especially for those who are not so used using a Mac operating system. It is mostly caused by the different menu interface between Windows and Mac. Moreover, Mac is well known for its stronger security, maybe this is why the process of uninstalling a program on Mac is (maybe) a little bit trickier compare to Windows.

How to uninstall an application on Mac?

There are several ways to uninstall an application on Mac operating system. We can use both the in-built facility and also using other applications for it, from the simplest to the more advanced way. Let’s take a look one by one.

1. Moving the application to the trash

This is the most common way to delete applications or applications on MAC operating system. Similarly to Android smartphones, on MAC we can also do the “move to trash” to remove the certain application. Nevertheless, you cannot just drag the application but you need to do it through the “Application” folder. After moving the application to the trash folder, you can continue to empty the trash to completely and permanently remove or uninstall the application.

2. Delete Related App/Elements in the Library

The library is the place where all packages of the application’s elements stored. All those elements are important to make the application runs in the device. Therefore, when we remove certain element the application may face malfunction or does not run (or even) cannot run in the device. Due to this reason, we need to be careful in choosing which element is OK to remove.

In the MAC operating system, the Library folder is set as a hidden folder in the default setting. The purpose is to protect the folder from the unwanted action. Thus, the Library folder remains unseen when you try to find it with a normal approach. Please follow the below guide to avoid messing with unwanted removal of the (actually) needed elements.

  1. Go to the “Finder” – “Go” button (click) + Hold the “Alt/Option” key – Click “Library” from the drop-down menu.
  2. Press “Search” – type the application name you want to uninstall.
  3. Move the files to the “Trash”.
  4. Empty the “Trash” to remove all those supporting files/elements from the system.

By emptying the “Trash”, it means that you are completely uninstalling application on MAC.

3. Using Related Application Uninstaller

Some applications or app developers have also equipped the application or app with the uninstaller package. For instance; Adobe reader, the app uninstaller package is already embedded along in the application when you download and install it.

But some applications provide the uninstaller separately. Thus, you might need to google and download it when you cannot find it in the application package. In this case, it is simpler for the user whenever they want to remove/uninstall the application on MAC.

Please follow the below steps:

  1. Open “Finder”.
  2. Search for the application name you want to uninstall. (Add the word “Uninstaller” after the application name).
  3. Click the application uninstaller to remove or uninstall the application from your MAC
